Outside hitters bat first 9, 8 billion FAs on the bench…4-hole batting average Lee Jung-hoon-Jung-geun starting lineup
The Lotte Giants will face the LG Twins at Jamsil Stadium on April 24. The game was canceled due to rain for the second consecutive day on the 22nd and 23rd. After a sweep of SSG and a sweep loss to Kiwoom last week, Lotte is urgently looking to end its losing streak.
Lotte will start Ahn Kwon-soo (left fielder), Kim Min-seok (center fielder), Lee Jung-hoon (designated hitter), Ahn Chi-hong (second baseman), Yoon Dong-hee (right fielder), Ko Seung-min (first baseman), Lee Jung-geun (catcher), Noh Jin-hyuk (shortstop), and Gudrum (third baseman).
This is the first time a foreigner has started in the 9th spot in the batting order. He has had two at-bats as a substitute.
Before the game at Jamsil Stadium, Sutton said, “We don’t have anyone who can hit big like a typical No. 3, 4, or 5 hitter, so we have to be flexible with our lineup depending on the other team’s starting pitcher. We have a guy who can get on base, and then we have a guy who can drive in runs, and that’s how Goodrum ended up batting ninth.”
In 25 games, Goodrum is 26-for-97 (2-for-68) with a home run, 15 RBI, nine runs scored, a .330 on-base percentage and a .675 OPS. He recently missed two consecutive games due to a sore hamstring.
Lee Jung-hoon, who has been hitting well of late, is in the center field lineup, and Lee Jung-geun will start at catcher over free agent Yoo Kang-nam. Lee is 5-for-8 in his last 10 games and 4-for-6 in 43 games this season with 26 doubles, one home run, and 13 RBIs in 61 at-bats.
Lee Jung-hoon is 3-for-8 in his last 10 games and 4-for-9 in 25 games with one home run and nine RBIs in 66 at-bats.
Sutton said of Lee: “He’s got a classic middle-of-the-order hitter’s body type. He can hit for extra bases and he can hit long balls. He’s got good S-zone control and good natural talent. He’s not going to hit 20-30 home runs, but he fits the role of a center fielder. He’s a good fit for the three, four, and five spots because he can drive in a lot of runs.”메이저사이트
Barnes will start in place of Wilkerson as Lotte has been rained out for the second straight game. “Wilkerson will start on the 25th,” Sutton said.
Barnes is 9-6 with a 3.53 ERA in 22 games (120 innings) this season. Since mid-July, Barnes has won four straight starts and is 2-0 with a 1.46 ERA in four August starts (24 1/3 innings, four earned runs).
However, Barnes is 2-2 with a 9.26 ERA in three starts against LG this season. As a lefty, Barnes struggles against LG’s lefty-heavy lineup. It will be interesting to see if he can translate his recent velocity to the LGs.
