Brother-in-law reunion? Proppa signs minor with San Diego
Could the brothers be reunited?
The San Diego Padres have signed Jurickson Profar, 30, to a minor league contract, according to the San Diego Union-Tribune, a leading San Diego area outlet.
Profar agreed to a one-year, $7.75 million contract with the Colorado Rockies this season, but was released after batting .236 with a .316 on-base percentage, .364 slugging percentage, eight home runs and 39 RBIs in 111 games.
As a free agent, Proppa chose a new destination, a team he was familiar with, having played the previous three seasons.
In 345 games with the Padres over the previous three years, Proppa batted .244 with a .333 on-base percentage and .375 slugging percentage. In 2022, he established himself as the starting left fielder and helped the team reach the postseason.
He was also one of Kim’s closest teammates. Kim called Profar his older brother on social media, and Profar called Kim his “little brother,” making them stepbrothers.
But the professional world is a cold place. After a successful 2022 season, Propa opted out and said goodbye.
It turned out to be a bad choice. He hit free agency, but didn’t receive a one-year deal until March, and even then, he was released midseason after performing below expectations.
Once touted as one of the league’s top prospects, Profar has had a career that has fallen short of expectations. In 10 seasons in the majors, the veteran has appeared in 947 games, batting .238 with a .322 on-base percentage and .383 slugging percentage. He has experience playing every position except pitcher and catcher. In 2023, he played exclusively in the outfield.바카라사이트
Propa will initially join the Padres’ Triple-A El Paso organization, but could be called up for the remainder of the season.
The San Diego Union-Tribune reports that Proppa is a strong candidate to be called up when the roster expands.
