By Oh Sang-jin Reporter= The NC Dinos will hold a Futures League home game against the Sangsung Baseball Team at Masan Baseball Stadium on Saturday as a retirement game for coach Kim Gun-tae and playing coach Kwon Jeong-woong.

After graduating from Jinheung High School, Kim began his professional career with Nexen in 2010 and was selected by NC in the 2017 KBO Secondary Draft to wear the Dinos uniform. He pitched in 183 regular-season games, posting a 5-13 record with 12 saves and a 5.20 ERA, and helped NC win its first overall title in the 2020 season as a starter. After the 2022 season, he turned into a club training coach and is working with the C team (NC Future Team).

Kwon began his professional career with Samsung in 2015 after graduating from Hanyang University. He joined the NC in September 2022 and has since hit .200 with six home runs in 75 regular season games. In recognition of his sincerity and communication skills, he has been with the team since May of this year as the C Team Playing Coach.

On the day, Kim Gun-tae and Kwon Jeong-woong will take the field as substitutes to give fans their final appearance as players. After the game, they will present the players with a bouquet of flowers and take a group photo to mark their farewell to Jeongden Ground and the start of a new challenge.

Coach Kim Gun-tae said, “Every player dreams of having a retirement ceremony at the end of their active career. Even though I wasn’t a starring player in every game, I think the team saw my hard work and made it possible for me to have such an honorable event. The club’s in-house coach training program is something I never experienced as a player. I’ve been thinking a lot about how I can help behind the scenes, and I’ve been seeing and feeling the progress and growth of the players. I will continue to do my best as a member of the NC Dinos for a long time with this study as a foundation. As we are starting another year, I want to show my best finish as a player,” said Kim Gun-tae.

Playing coach Kwon Jung-woong said, “It’s been a year since I came to NC, and I’m grateful to the club officials for organizing such a meaningful event ahead of my new start. I am also grateful to the fans who have supported me despite not being the center of attention, and I will do my best to fulfill my duties in the position of helping the players.”메이저사이트

NC Dinos head coach Lim Sun-nam said, “I would like to thank them for their dedication to the team. We will support the future of the two players who were more sincere and hot on the field than anyone else.”
