‘2-0, 2.84 ERA’ Ryu tries for ‘first win’ vs. CLE…with Guerrero, Jansen at first base
The returning “Korean Big Leaguer” Ryu Hyun-jin of the Toronto Blue Jays will make his second start of the season, looking for his first win of the season.
Ryu will take the mound against the Cleveland Cavaliers in the 2023 Major League Baseball World Series at Progressive Field in Ohio, USA, on April 8 (ET).
After undergoing Tommy John surgery last season, Ryu returned to the major leagues after more than a year of rehabilitation. He appeared in four games in the minor leagues from Rookie League to Triple-A, pitching 18 innings and going 2-0 with a 2.00 ERA, raising expectations for his return.
However, his first big league start this season was a bit of a disappointment. In his first major league start against the Baltimore Orioles, who are in first place in the American League East, Ryu gave up four runs (four earned) on nine hits (one home run) with one walk and three strikeouts in five innings. The results weren’t bad, despite the loss in his comeback. The process was the problem.
Ryu lasted until the sixth inning, and he allowed five leadoff singles in all but one of them. In addition, five of his nine hits went for extra bases, and he gave up 10 so-called “hard contact” balls that were over 95 miles per hour (152.9 kilometers per hour).
Ryu struggled against the Baltimore offense in the process, but in the end, despite a not-so-bad outing of four runs in five innings, the Orioles were left with the yoke of their first loss of the season, as back-to-back bullpen arms gave up a whopping nine runs in four innings.
Hyun-jin Ryu will be back in the hunt for his first win on Sept. 9 against Cleveland. Ryu has faced Cleveland a total of three times when he was with the Indians. His career record against the Indians is 2-0 with a 2.84 ERA. That’s a great start to the season.바카라사이트
